Enhanced Smart Card family from C&K Components

C&K Enhanced Smart Card for protection against PIN number theftOctober 2007 - C&K Components has enhanced its CCM01 and CCM02 smart card connectors with increased protection against PIN number theft. While fully complying with VISA PCI PED requirements, the additional protection eliminates the capability for a hacker to insert a bug on the connector and extract the PIN details.

Widely used in Point of Sale (PoS or Transaction) applications, the CCM01 and CCM02 connectors are housed in a compact, space-saving package. Each model offers a different level of protection relative to the specific terminal architecture. The surface mount RoHS-compliant products feature 100,000 and 500,000 card insertion cycles, respectively, dust protected card detection switches and EMV compliance, and have sufficient room underneath the connector to place space-sensitive SMT components. Additional metal pegs enable a higher value of resistance to card insertion force up to 40N.

“By significantly reducing the chances of personal identification numbers being stolen, we are able to provide our customers with an extremely reliable, long-lasting device,” said Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager for C&K Components. “The compliance to industry standards, robust construction and space-saving design make the connector ideal for any PoS application.”
